Happy New Year 2023

"As the year 2022, comes to a close, it's natural to reflect on the events of the past 12 months. The past year has been like a rollercoaster ride, with ups and downs, twists and turns, and moments of excitement and fear. But through it all, we've held on tight and navigated the twists and turns with resilience and determination. We've learned to adapt and find new ways of doing things, and we've come out stronger on the other side."

As we say goodbye to the past year and look forward to the new one, it's a time to let go of the things that no longer serve us and to embrace the opportunities that lie ahead. It's a chance to set new goals and to make the most of the present moment.

So let's bid farewell to the old year and look ahead with hope and optimism. Let's make the most of the time we have and create a bright and beautiful future. Here's to a new year full of possibility and potential!

"The new year 2023, is like a blank canvas, waiting to be filled with the colors of our hopes, dreams, and actions. It's a time to let go of the past and embrace the possibilities of the future. Just as an artist chooses their palette and brushstrokes to create a masterpiece, we can choose how we want to create our own lives. We can set goals and make resolutions, taking small steps every day to bring our dreams to fruition."

The new year is also a time for reflection and gratitude. It's a chance to look back on the year that has passed and to appreciate the people, experiences, and blessings that have enriched our lives. So as we welcome in the new year, let's take a deep breath and embrace the blank canvas before us. Let's choose our colors wisely and paint a picture that brings us joy and fulfillment.

To make the most of the new year, here are a few tools that can help:

  1. Make a list of goals and resolutions. Take some time to think about what you want to accomplish in the new year and write them down. Having specific and measurable goals can help you stay focused and motivated.
  2. Create a plan of action. Break your goals down into smaller, more achievable steps and create a plan to help you accomplish them. This can help you stay on track and make progress towards your goals.
  3. Find a support system. Surround yourself with people who will encourage and support you in your goals. Having a strong support system can help you stay motivated and accountable.
  4. Stay positive and focused. Keep a positive attitude and stay focused on your goals, even when challenges arise. Remember that progress takes time and that every small step you take brings you closer to achieving your goals.

Here's to a happy and healthy new year 2023! May it bring you joy, growth, and all the tools you need to create a fulfilling and rewarding year.

Self Realization - Bhagwat Gita way...

"Self reflection is the means to overcome the confusion and delusion caused by the mind's perceptions."

Ranjan had been working as a Finance Controller for a large manufacturing company for over 20 years. He had always been a hard worker and had climbed the ranks to become a manager. However, despite his success at work, Ranjan had always felt a sense of emptiness and unfulfillment. He often found himself questioning if this was truly what he wanted to do with his life and if he was truly happy. Sometimes there used to be unusual expectations from his manager and Business Leader of his business group.

One day, Ranjan found himself in the midst of a career crisis. He was feeling burnt out and unhappy with his job, and he knew he needed to make a change. He decided to take some time off and really think about what he wanted to do with his life. He spent his days reflecting and exploring new interests, such as painting and writing.

Through this process of self-exploration, Ranjan began to realize that what he really wanted was to use his skills and knowledge to make a positive impact on the world. He also wanted empowerment to make his own decisions for the benefit of the organization and people around. He wanted to work on projects that had meaning and purpose beyond just making a profit.

So, Ranjan made the decision to leave his job and start his own consulting firm focused on creating sustainable and socially responsible financial solutions for midsize organizations. It was a risky move, but he knew it was the right one for him. As he pursued this new path, Ranjan found a renewed sense of purpose and fulfillment. He was able to use his skills and knowledge to make a difference, and he was finally happy with his career.

In the Bhagavad-Gita, self reflection is seen as a key component of the path to enlightenment and self-realization. It is a practice that can help one to grow and to become a better person, both spiritually and in everyday life. The conversation between Krishna and Arjuna centers on the importance of self reflection and self-realization. Self-realization, or "atma-dnyna", is described as the ultimate goal of life. It is the understanding and realization of one's true self, or atman, as being inseparable from the divine, or Brahmin (mean intellectual). The path to self-realization involves the cultivation of spiritual disciplines, such as devotion (bhakti), yoga, and meditation, as well as performing one's duties selflessly and without attachment to the fruits of one's actions.

One of the key teachings of the Bhagavad Gita is that the ego, or ahankara, is the root cause of suffering and that true liberation can only be attained by transcending the ego and realizing the oneness of all existence.

Here are a few key verses from the Bhagavad Gita that relate to self-realization:

"He who is situated in the Self, and whose Self is the same as Mine, even though he slay these people, he does not slay, nor is he bound by his actions." (5.15)

"He who has attained to the highest realization, being united in the Self, is neither elated by good fortune nor depressed by evil." (5.20)

"The man of self-realization, whose mind is completely absorbed in the Self, is not affected by the dualities of life, for he has attained to the highest perfection." (5.20)

Krishna tells Arjuna that by engaging in self reflection and introspection, he can gain a deeper understanding of his own nature and purpose. He encourages Arjuna to let go of ego and attachments, and to focus on his own inner wisdom and guidance. Krishna also stresses the importance of being honest and truthful with oneself in order to gain true insight and understanding. He tells Arjuna that by engaging in self reflection, he can learn to let go of the things that do not serve him and to focus on what truly matters.

Through this conversation, Krishna encourages Arjuna to embrace self reflection as a means of personal growth and self-realization. He shows Arjuna that by looking inward and examining his own thoughts and actions, he can gain a greater sense of inner peace and fulfillment.

  • Self reflection is like looking in a mirror and seeing yourself clearly for the first time.
  • Self reflection is like peeling back the layers of an onion, revealing the hidden truths within.
  • Self reflection is like a deep dive into the depths of the ocean, discovering hidden treasures and secrets.
  • Self reflection is like a shining beacon, illuminating the path to self-discovery and growth.
  • Self reflection is like a warm embrace, comforting and nurturing the soul.

The journey of self-realization during a career crisis can be a difficult and uncertain one, but for Ranjan, it was worth it. He learned that sometimes taking a step back and reflecting on what truly matters to you can lead to a much more fulfilling and rewarding path

Self realization and self reflection are two important concepts that are closely related. Self realization is the process of understanding and accepting one's own abilities, strengths, and weaknesses, while self reflection is the process of looking inward and examining one's own thoughts and actions. Both self realization and self reflection are essential for personal growth and development. By understanding and accepting ourselves, we are able to set goals and make plans to improve ourselves and our lives. By examining our thoughts and actions, we are able to learn from our mistakes and make positive changes.

However, self realization and self reflection can be difficult. It can be challenging to look inward and to confront our own flaws and shortcomings. It can be easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life and to lose sight of what is truly important. One way to overcome these challenges is to set aside time for regular self reflection. This can be done through meditation, journaling, or simply taking a few moments each day to sit quietly and reflect on our thoughts and actions.

Power of Gratitude

Pic Source: Google
Once upon a time, in a small village nestled in the rolling hills of the countryside, there lived a farmer named Naresh. Naresh was a hard-working man who spent his days toiling in the fields, growing crops to feed his family and the village. Despite his hard work, Naresh often found himself feeling grumpy and unhappy. He would complain about the weather, the pests that ate his crops, and the long hours he had to work.

One day, Naresh's neighbor, a wise old man named Krishna, came to visit him. "Naresh," said Krishna, "I have noticed that you are often unhappy and grumbling. What is the matter?"

Naresh sighed and said, "I work so hard, but it never seems to be enough. There is always something to complain about, and I never have time to enjoy the simple things in life."

Krishna nodded and said, "I understand how you feel. But have you ever tried practicing gratitude? When we focus on the things we are thankful for, it can help to shift our focus from the negative to the positive. It can also improve our overall well-being and happiness."

Naresh was skeptical, but he was also curious. He decided to give gratitude a try. Every day, he would make a list of three things he was thankful for. At first, it was difficult to come up with things to be grateful for, but as he continued to practice, he found that he was able to find more and more things to be grateful for.

As Naresh's gratitude practice grew, he began to notice changes in himself. He found that he was less grumpy and more content. He was also more appreciative of the people and things in his life. He found that he was able to enjoy the simple things, like the feel of the sun on his face or the sound of birds singing in the morning.

One day, a terrible storm swept through the village, destroying many of Naresh's crops. Naresh was devastated, but he remembered his gratitude practice. He made a list of the things he was thankful for, even in the midst of the storm. He was grateful that his family was safe, that he still had some crops left, and that the storm would eventually pass.

Thanks to his gratitude practice, Naresh was able to weather the storm with a positive outlook and a sense of hope. He continued to practice gratitude every day, and as a result, he found that he was happier and more content than he had ever been before.

“When you are grateful, fear disappears and abundance appears."

Gratitude is the feeling of appreciation and thankfulness for the good things that we have or have experienced in our lives. It is a positive emotion that can improve our overall well-being and happiness. Research has shown that people who practice gratitude regularly are more likely to experience a variety of benefits, including increased happiness and life satisfaction, better physical health, stronger relationships, and reduced stress and anxiety.

One of the key benefits of gratitude is that it helps us to shift our focus from the negative to the positive. When we are feeling grateful, we are more likely to see the good in our lives and the people around us, and to be less critical and judgmental. This can help to reduce negative emotions and improve our mental and emotional well-being.

Gratitude can also strengthen our relationships. When we express gratitude to others, we make them feel valued and appreciated, which can improve communication and increase feelings of connection and closeness. This can be particularly important in romantic relationships, where gratitude has been shown to predict increased relationship satisfaction and stability.

In addition to its emotional benefits, gratitude can also have positive effects on our physical health. Research has shown that people who practice gratitude regularly have stronger immune systems, lower blood pressure, and fewer aches and pains. Gratitude can also improve our sleep, which is essential for maintaining good physical health.

Finally, gratitude can help us to cope with stress and adversity. When we are facing challenges or difficult situations, gratitude can remind us of the good things in our lives and help us to maintain a positive outlook. This can make it easier to persevere and overcome obstacles, and can also help us to feel more resilient and better able to cope with stress.

Overall, gratitude is a powerful emotion that can have many positive effects on our mental, emotional, and physical well-being. It can help us to cultivate a positive outlook, strengthen our relationships, improve our health, and cope with stress and adversity. By incorporating gratitude into our daily lives, we can reap the many benefits of this important emotion.

Make your relationships healthy

Relationships are a fundamental part of being human. They are a crucial way that we connect with and relate to others, and they play a significant role in our overall well-being and happiness. In this article, we will explore the different types of relationships, their importance, and how they can be nurtured and maintained.

There are many different types of relationships, and each one plays a unique role in our lives. Some of the most common types of relationships include romantic relationships, familial relationships, platonic relationships, and professional relationships.

Romantic relationships are perhaps the most well-known and celebrated type of relationship. They are typically characterized by deep feelings of love, attraction, and commitment, and they often involve a high level of intimacy and physical connection. Romantic relationships can be incredibly rewarding and fulfilling, but they can also be challenging and require a lot of work to maintain.

In romantic relationships, it is important to be affectionate, supportive, and attentive to your partner's needs. This means expressing love and care through actions such as holding hands, giving compliments, and listening actively to your partner. It also means being willing to compromise and communicate openly and honestly about your feelings and needs.

In friendships, it is important to be a good listener, to be non-judgmental, and to be there for your friends when they need support. This means being willing to listen to your friends' concerns and offer advice and encouragement when needed. It also means being accepting of your friends' differences and supporting them in their goals and aspirations.

Familial relationships are another important type of relationship. These are the relationships that we have with our parents, siblings, and other family members, and they often play a crucial role in our overall sense of belonging and support. Familial relationships can be complex and multifaceted, and they may evolve and change over time.

In family relationships, it is important to be loving, supportive, and respectful. This means showing love and affection through actions such as hugs and words of affirmation. It also means being willing to help out with household chores and other responsibilities, and being patient and understanding with family members who may be going through difficult times.

Platonic relationships are relationships that are based on friendship and mutual respect, rather than romantic attraction. Platonic relationships can be just as important and fulfilling as romantic relationships, and they often involve a deep level of trust and connection. Platonic relationships can provide support, companionship, and a sense of belonging.

Professional relationships are another important type of relationship, and they are typically characterized by a shared goal or purpose. Professional relationships can be with colleagues, supervisors, clients, or customers, and they often involve a level of trust and cooperation.

Professional relationships can be crucial for career success and personal fulfilment. In professional relationships, it is important to be reliable, respectful, and professional. This means being punctual, following through on your commitments, and treating your colleagues with courtesy and respect. It also means maintaining appropriate boundaries and avoiding conflicts of interest.

Regardless of the type of relationship, all relationships require effort and commitment to maintain.

Here are some imperatives for maintaining healthy relationships:

Communication: Effective communication is a fundamental imperative in all relationships. This means being able to listen actively and communicate openly and honestly with the other person. It also involves being able to express your thoughts, feelings, and needs in a way that the other person can understand.

Trust: Trust is essential to the success of any relationship. It involves being honest and transparent with the other person, and being reliable and dependable in your actions and words.

Boundaries: Setting and maintaining healthy boundaries is an important in relationships. This means being clear about what you are and are not willing to accept, and communicating these boundaries to the other person. It also involves respecting the other person's boundaries.

Conflict resolution: Conflict is a natural part of any relationship, and being able to effectively resolve conflicts is an important process. This involves being able to communicate openly and honestly about your feelings and needs, and being willing to compromise and find mutually acceptable solutions.

Growth and development: Relationships provide an opportunity for personal growth and development. This involves being open to learning and changing, and being willing to support the other person in their growth and development as well.

By understanding and engaging in these imperatives, individuals can build healthy, successful relationships with the people in their lives.

Here are some tips for nurturing and maintaining healthy relationships:

Communicate openly and honestly: Effective communication is essential for maintaining healthy relationships. It involves expressing your thoughts and feelings openly and honestly, listening actively to the other person, and being willing to compromise and find common ground.

Show empathy and understanding: Empathy is the ability to understand and share the feelings of another person. It involves putting yourself in the other person's shoes and trying to see things from their perspective. Empathy can help you to connect with others and build stronger relationships.

Be supportive and there for each other: Support is a crucial part of any healthy relationship. It involves being there for the other person, offering help and guidance when needed, and being a source of strength and comfort.

Be respectful and considerate: Respect and consideration are essential for maintaining healthy relationships. It involves treating the other person with kindness, thoughtfulness, and consideration, and showing them that you value them and their feelings.

Nurture the relationship: Just like any other aspect of life, relationships require effort and attention to maintain. This involves making time for the other person, engaging in activities and experiences together, and consistently showing them that you care.

In conclusion, relationships are a fundamental part of being human, and they play a significant role in our overall well-being and happiness. Different types of relationships serve different purposes and provide different benefits, but all relationships require effort and commitment to maintain. By nurturing and maintaining healthy relationships, we can create a sense of connection, support, and fulfilment in our lives.

Finding Purpose and making life more meaningful.

God Dattatreya learnt from many Gurus around. It is said that he has learnt from 24 gurus and those were from nature and animals. Similarly, if we look around, we have many things to learn from. Whenever I read the Guruchatria, I get the same inspiration which Guru gives. It is also said that God is within us and hence my conversation, in my subconscious mind, with my Guru went as under. Here I am in the role of Disciple.

Disciple: What is the purpose of life?

Guru: As you know, the purpose of life is to seek enlightenment and to find inner peace. This is the ultimate goal of all spiritual paths.

Disciple: I understand, guru. But how can I find this inner peace and enlightenment?

Guru: The key to finding inner peace and enlightenment is to let go of attachments and desires. When we are attached to things, we are unable to see the world as it truly is. We must let go of our attachments and desires in order to experience true inner peace.

Disciple: But guru, isn't it natural for a human being to have attachments and desires?

Guru: Yes, it is natural for human beings to have attachments and desires. But it is important to understand that these attachments and desires are the source of suffering. When we let go of them, we can find true peace and happiness. Life is not just about existing, my dear. It is about living with purpose and meaning.

Guru: One other important aspect of a happy life is to have a sense of purpose or meaning. This can come from many different sources, such as your career, your relationships, or your personal interests and passions. When you have something that drives and motivates you, it can give your life direction and make it more fulfilling.

Disciple: How do I find my purpose?

Guru: Finding your purpose can be a deeply personal and individual journey. It's something that may evolve and change over time, and there is no one-size-fits-all answer. A good way to start is to ask yourself what brings you joy, fulfillment, and a sense of accomplishment. You can also think about your strengths and passions, and how you might use them to make a positive impact on the world. It may take some exploration and experimentation to discover your purpose, but the important thing is to keep an open mind and be willing to try new things. The journey towards a happy and fulfilling life is ongoing. It's important to be patient and kind to yourself, and to keep working towards your goals and dreams. With dedication and perseverance, you will find the happiness and fulfillment that you seek.

Disciple: I agree, guru. But how can I make my life more meaningful?

Guru: There are many ways to make your life more meaningful. One way is to focus on your relationships with others. Nurture your relationships with your family and friends, and be kind and compassionate towards others.

Disciple: That is a good idea. What else can I do to make my life more meaningful?

Guru: Another way to make your life more meaningful is to engage in activities that are fulfilling and rewarding. This can be anything from pursuing a hobby or passion, to volunteering and helping others. When you engage in activities that bring you joy and fulfillment, you will find that your life has more meaning and purpose. Remember, the key to a meaningful life is to be present in the moment and to live with purpose and intention. May the universe bless you on your journey towards a more meaningful life.

Disciple: But why do we need to do this all? There are millions of people who are living without doing this all. What is the final goal?

Guru: Do you think all those million people are living a happy and healthy life? The final goal, my dear, is a state of happiness, fulfillment, and inner peace. It is a state in which you feel content and satisfied with your life, and in which you are living in alignment with your values and goals.

Disciple: How do I achieve this final goal?

Guru: The path to achieving the final goal is different for everyone, but there are some common principles that can guide you on your journey. Firstly, it is important to cultivate a sense of mindfulness and presence, so that you are able to fully engage with the present moment and let go of distractions and worries. Secondly, it is important to let go of negative thoughts and emotions, and to cultivate positive ones instead. Finally, it is important to have a sense of purpose and meaning in your life, and to strive towards goals that bring you joy and fulfillment.

Disciple: That is helpful. Can you give me some specific examples of how to apply these principles?

Guru: Of course. Here are some examples of how you can apply these principles in your daily life:

Practice mindfulness: Try setting aside some time each day to sit quietly and focus on your breath, or to engage in a calming activity such as yoga or meditation.

Let go of negative thoughts and emotions: When you notice yourself feeling negative or stressed, take a deep breath and try to let go of those thoughts and emotions. Instead, focus on the present moment and on the good things in your life.

Cultivate positive emotions: Make a conscious effort to surround yourself with positive people and experiences. Try doing things that bring you joy, such as spending time with loved ones, pursuing a hobby, or volunteering.

Find your purpose: Take some time to reflect on your strengths and passions, and think about how you can use them to make a positive impact on the world. You may need to experiment and try out different things before you find your true purpose, but the important thing is to keep an open mind and be willing to explore.

By incorporating these principles into your daily life, you can work towards achieving the final goal of happiness, fulfillment, and inner peace.

Disciple: How can I let go of negative thoughts and emotions?

Guru: One way to let go of negative thoughts and emotions is to practice mindfulness. This means bringing your attention to the present moment and letting go of any distractions or worries. Another way is to practice self-compassion and talk to yourself in a kind and understanding way. You can also try engaging in activities that bring you joy and fulfillment, such as spending time with loved ones, pursuing a hobby, or volunteering.

Disciple: That makes sense. Can you tell me more about the importance of gratitude?

Guru: Absolutely. Gratitude is a powerful emotion that can have a huge impact on your happiness. When you cultivate a sense of gratitude, you are able to appreciate the good things in your life, even in the midst of difficult circumstances. This can help you to feel more positive and hopeful, and can even improve your physical health. Try starting each day by thinking of three things you are grateful for, and see how it affects your mood and outlook. Remember, it takes time and practice to cultivate a happy life, but the effort is well worth it. Keep striving towards positivity and contentment, and you will find true happiness.

Combining materialistic life with spirituality!

In today's modern world, it can be easy to get caught up in the pursuit of material possessions and wealth. We may be driven by the desire for success, comfort, and security, and we may believe that these things can only be attained through hard work, ambition, and determination.

But for many people, this materialistic approach to life can leave them feeling empty and unfulfilled. It can create a sense of disconnection from the world around us, and from our own inner selves. In contrast, spirituality offers a different way of looking at the world and our place in it. It emphasizes the importance of connection, compassion, and inner growth, and it can provide a sense of meaning and purpose that goes beyond the material.

Abhay is a successful businessman who has worked hard to build a successful career and accumulate wealth. But despite his material success, he always felt something was missing. He turned to spirituality and began practicing mindfulness and meditation, and he found that these practices helped him to connect with his inner self and find a sense of peace and fulfilment. Now, he incorporates these practices into his daily life, and he has found a balance between his material success and his spiritual growth.

John is an artist who has always been driven by his passion for creativity and self-expression. But he struggled to make ends meet, and he often felt overwhelmed by the demands of the art world. He turned to spirituality and began exploring mindfulness and meditation, and he found that these practices helped him to connect with his inner vision and find the courage to pursue his art on his own terms. Now, he is able to make a living as an artist, and he feels more fulfilled and satisfied than he ever has before.

Priti is a stay-at-home mom who has devoted her life to raising her children. She has always been a spiritual person, but she struggled to find meaning and purpose in her daily routine. She turned to mindfulness and meditation, and she found that these practices helped her to connect with her inner self and find a sense of peace and fulfillment. Now, she incorporates these practices into her daily life, and she feels more fulfilled and satisfied as a mother and as a person.

These are just a few examples, and there are countless other stories of people who have found a way to combine materialistic life and spirituality. The key is to find what works for you and to be open to exploring new ways of finding meaning and fulfillment in your life.

But how can we balance these two aspects of our lives, and find a way to integrate material success with spiritual fulfillment? Here are a few suggestions:

  • Recognize that material possessions are not the source of true happiness or fulfillment. Instead, focus on the things that truly matter: relationships, experiences, and personal growth.
  • Practice gratitude and mindfulness. This can help us to appreciate the things we already have, and to be present in the moment, rather than constantly chasing after new things.
  • Connect with others and the world around us. Whether through volunteering, community involvement, or simply spending time with loved ones, connecting with others can help us to feel a sense of belonging and purpose.
  • Explore spiritual practices, such as meditation, prayer, or mindfulness, and find what works for you. These practices can help us to connect with our inner selves and find a sense of peace and fulfillment.
  • Consider the impact of your choices on others and the environment. Material success and spiritual fulfillment are not just about what we gain for ourselves; they are also about the impact we have on others and the world around us. By making ethical and sustainable choices, we can help to create a better world for everyone.
  • Don't be afraid to let go of things that don't serve you. Our material possessions can hold a lot of emotional weight, and it can be difficult to let go of things that we have attached meaning to. But sometimes, letting go of things that no longer serve us can be a powerful act of self-care and personal growth.
  • Find ways to incorporate spiritual practices into your daily life. Spirituality doesn't have to be separate from our daily lives; it can be integrated into the things we do every day. For example, we can practice mindfulness while eating, commuting, or even doing household chores. By finding ways to incorporate spiritual practices into our daily routines, we can bring more meaning and fulfillment into our lives.
  • Remember that spirituality is not a destination, but a journey. Spirituality is not something that we can achieve or attain; it is a continuous process of growth and self-discovery. By embracing this journey and being open to learning and growth, we can find a deeper sense of fulfillment and meaning in our lives.

In conclusion, combining materialistic life and spirituality is not about sacrificing one for the other. Instead, it is about finding a balance and integration of these two aspects of our lives. By recognizing the value of both material success and spiritual fulfillment, we can create a life that is rich and fulfilling in every way.
