Stupid person doesn't have the capability to understand wise person.

न मां दुष्कृतिनो मूढा: प्रपद्यन्ते नराधमा: |

माययापहृतज्ञाना आसुरं भावमाश्रिता: ॥15॥

The foolish evildoers, who are the most depraved among men, who are deprived of (their) wisdom by Maya, and who resort to demoniacal ways, do not take refuge in Me.

Those miscreants who are grossly foolish, lowest among mankind, whose knowledge is stolen by illusion, and who partake of the atheistic nature of demons, do not surrender unto Me.

It means a person who is completely absorbed in material desires and delusions cannot understand a wise person's perspective. This is because their knowledge is limited and their consciousness is clouded by ignorance. However, with spiritual practice and dedication, it is possible to overcome these limitations and gain access to higher levels of understanding and wisdom.

Few people live in illusion. Illusion of knowledge, illusion of knowing everything. This leads to be overconfidence and intellectual stupidity.

It is important to differentiate between intelligence and wisdom. Intelligence is often associated with cognitive abilities such as problem-solving, memory, and learning quickly. Wisdom, on the other hand, is not solely dependent on intelligence, but rather involves a deeper understanding of life gained through experience and reflection. While a person may have a high level of intelligence, they may not necessarily possess wisdom, and vice versa. However still there will be people who will be intelligently Stupid. These intelligent stupid are who are incompetent and they tend:

  • Overestimate their skill and knowledge levels
  • They live in past experience and try to apply the same in even new environment,
  • They speak hyperbole,
  • Speaks and lot and has a very bad listening ability,
  • Micromanages their team because of insecurity,
  • Fail to recognize the genuine skill and expertise of other people,
  • Fail to recognize their own mistakes and lack of skill

Sometimes they behave like a bubble. When someone gains a small amount of knowledge about a topic, they may feel like they know everything there is to know. This can cause them to become overly confident in their abilities, which can lead to mistakes and failures.

A foolish leader who makes poor decisions may harm their organization or their community. A foolish driver who disregards traffic laws may cause an accident that injures themselves or others. A foolish investor who makes risky investments may lose their life savings. The problem with foolishness is that it often leads to a lack of judgment and critical thinking skills. Foolish people may jump to conclusions without considering all the facts, or they may make decisions based on emotions rather than logic. They may also lack the ability to learn from their mistakes and may continue to make the same errors over and over again.

One way to avoid being foolish is to cultivate self-awareness and a willingness to learn. We need to be able to recognize our own limitations and to seek out feedback and advice from others. We also need to be willing to admit when we are wrong and to take steps to correct our mistakes.

Another factor is overconfidence.

Overconfidence can be particularly problematic in situations that require a high level of skill or expertise, such as medicine, engineering, or finance. In these fields, a small mistake can have serious consequences, and overconfidence can lead to costly errors.

Similarly, an engineer who has just learned about a new technology may feel confident in their ability to use it in their designs. However, they may not have a full understanding of the technology's limitations, which could lead to failures or malfunctions.

So, what can be done to avoid overconfidence? The key is to recognize the limitations of our knowledge and skills. We need to be humble and willing to admit when we don't know something or when we need help.

One way to avoid overconfidence is to seek out feedback and advice from others. This can help us to identify areas where we need to improve and to avoid making mistakes. Another way could be to continue learning and expanding our knowledge. This can help us to gain a deeper understanding of a topic and to recognize the complexities involved.

Combining materialistic life with spirituality!

In today's modern world, it can be easy to get caught up in the pursuit of material possessions and wealth. We may be driven by the desire for success, comfort, and security, and we may believe that these things can only be attained through hard work, ambition, and determination.

But for many people, this materialistic approach to life can leave them feeling empty and unfulfilled. It can create a sense of disconnection from the world around us, and from our own inner selves. In contrast, spirituality offers a different way of looking at the world and our place in it. It emphasizes the importance of connection, compassion, and inner growth, and it can provide a sense of meaning and purpose that goes beyond the material.

Abhay is a successful businessman who has worked hard to build a successful career and accumulate wealth. But despite his material success, he always felt something was missing. He turned to spirituality and began practicing mindfulness and meditation, and he found that these practices helped him to connect with his inner self and find a sense of peace and fulfilment. Now, he incorporates these practices into his daily life, and he has found a balance between his material success and his spiritual growth.

John is an artist who has always been driven by his passion for creativity and self-expression. But he struggled to make ends meet, and he often felt overwhelmed by the demands of the art world. He turned to spirituality and began exploring mindfulness and meditation, and he found that these practices helped him to connect with his inner vision and find the courage to pursue his art on his own terms. Now, he is able to make a living as an artist, and he feels more fulfilled and satisfied than he ever has before.

Priti is a stay-at-home mom who has devoted her life to raising her children. She has always been a spiritual person, but she struggled to find meaning and purpose in her daily routine. She turned to mindfulness and meditation, and she found that these practices helped her to connect with her inner self and find a sense of peace and fulfillment. Now, she incorporates these practices into her daily life, and she feels more fulfilled and satisfied as a mother and as a person.

These are just a few examples, and there are countless other stories of people who have found a way to combine materialistic life and spirituality. The key is to find what works for you and to be open to exploring new ways of finding meaning and fulfillment in your life.

But how can we balance these two aspects of our lives, and find a way to integrate material success with spiritual fulfillment? Here are a few suggestions:

  • Recognize that material possessions are not the source of true happiness or fulfillment. Instead, focus on the things that truly matter: relationships, experiences, and personal growth.
  • Practice gratitude and mindfulness. This can help us to appreciate the things we already have, and to be present in the moment, rather than constantly chasing after new things.
  • Connect with others and the world around us. Whether through volunteering, community involvement, or simply spending time with loved ones, connecting with others can help us to feel a sense of belonging and purpose.
  • Explore spiritual practices, such as meditation, prayer, or mindfulness, and find what works for you. These practices can help us to connect with our inner selves and find a sense of peace and fulfillment.
  • Consider the impact of your choices on others and the environment. Material success and spiritual fulfillment are not just about what we gain for ourselves; they are also about the impact we have on others and the world around us. By making ethical and sustainable choices, we can help to create a better world for everyone.
  • Don't be afraid to let go of things that don't serve you. Our material possessions can hold a lot of emotional weight, and it can be difficult to let go of things that we have attached meaning to. But sometimes, letting go of things that no longer serve us can be a powerful act of self-care and personal growth.
  • Find ways to incorporate spiritual practices into your daily life. Spirituality doesn't have to be separate from our daily lives; it can be integrated into the things we do every day. For example, we can practice mindfulness while eating, commuting, or even doing household chores. By finding ways to incorporate spiritual practices into our daily routines, we can bring more meaning and fulfillment into our lives.
  • Remember that spirituality is not a destination, but a journey. Spirituality is not something that we can achieve or attain; it is a continuous process of growth and self-discovery. By embracing this journey and being open to learning and growth, we can find a deeper sense of fulfillment and meaning in our lives.

In conclusion, combining materialistic life and spirituality is not about sacrificing one for the other. Instead, it is about finding a balance and integration of these two aspects of our lives. By recognizing the value of both material success and spiritual fulfillment, we can create a life that is rich and fulfilling in every way.

Love yourself

Self Compassion

We all have some expectations from ourselves, however when those expectations are not fulfilled, we become angry and disappointed. Sometimes we curse ourselves. If this happens repeatedly, we start self-doubting. We are all taught to respect others, listen to others, understand others and so on…human being is a social animal; and hence most of the times, its need is recognition. Recognition of any form works for him. Recognition of being a respected person in the society, recognition of good human being. If the person behaves badly, still it wants the recognition for being bad. Human beings expect a good tag for him, and the person will do anything to get it. Good people try to get the recognition of being good and bad people get it by being bad. Good people try to get acceptance from society.

The whole award industry is using those professionals where every 1 professional out of 10 is getting some achiever, top professional, top leader award. Why this? Because to be likable and respectable. But when they try to be more likable and compromise with their values then conflict occurs. To get an award, to make others happy, to make a boss happy, to make peers happy, we go beyond boundaries which they don't care.  In this process, we do injustice to ourselves.

Bad people try to create the impression by being worse and dangerous. That’s why the gangsters, scamsters, mafias proudly publicize their work. Once I was interacting one of the union leaders and he was proudly telling me how many half murders he has done and how many court cases are against him.

Forget those bad people, but let’s speak about those people who want to always be likable. They care a lot for other people, but not themselves. The pressure of performance, the pressure of earning meals for the family, relationship conflicts and workplace stress create an unnecessary burden on human beings. The pandemic has put everyone in a very odd situation like this. However, it is also the time to take care of yourself. During the air travel the safety instructions are given before the take off. While doing this crew members emphasize on putting the oxygen mask first and then to the child and others. This means that you should survive first and be able to help others. Unless you don’t care about yourself, nobody will help you. If you love your family and friends, first be able to help them by caring for yourself. And to do that you have to be compassionate towards yourself. Self-compassion is crucial for your survival in a real sense. Self-compassion is more powerful than your self-esteem. People who are compassionate toward their struggles, feelings, failings and imperfections experience greater well-being than those who repeatedly criticize themselves. Self-compassion increases the feeling of security and net worth. This is more powerful when you get a setback, and your self-esteem is low.

Whenever there is negative thought, self-compassion helps to think deeply and come out from the setbacks. When we love ourselves, we are kind with self, it brings positivity. This positivity is important to be resilient. When you accept yourself as it is then only you can think to change. In that case, being vulnerable, taking critical feedback and recognizing development areas becomes easy.

Accept yourself as it is and be compassionate with yourself.

Be wise with a wise mind.

Once a King was discussing life with Yogi.

The king asked Yogi, “What do you and your disciples do in your monastery?”

The Yogi answered, “We sit, we walk, and we eat.”

The King said, “Then how are you different, from common people, for we do those things as well?”

The Yogi responded, “When we sit, we know we are sitting. When we walk, we know we are walking. When we eat, we know we are eating.”

That's mindfulness. When you are performing any act, you know exactly what you are doing. You perform with all senses.

We become emotional and respond, or we respond based on what we believe. We are also aware about the concept of left and right brain. Left brain is logical, analytical and methodical; however the right brain is more creative, intuitive, emotional. It also means that we human beings live with mind and heart. The mind and heart will not always be the same.

The famous movie, ‘Indian’ was released in 1996. Kamal Hasan played the double role of Father and Son. Father is a freedom fighter, very strong on his own ethics and loves India from the heart. When he comes to know about the corrupt practices, he starts killing those corrupt people.  His son is also a corrupt RTO officer. Son approves the permit of an unfit school bus by taking the bribe. After a few days, while going to school, an accident happens, taking the lives of small children.

When the father comes to know this, he feels very sad knowing his own son is a part of a corrupt system. He decides to punish the son and punishment means death. Manisha Koirala, fiancée of the son, pleads not to kill him ‘would be husband’. Father asks her, “Do you think that he has done right by taking bribes and approving the permit for an unfit bus? Because of him 25 children died. He could have avoided the accident.”

Manisha Koirala replies, “दिमाग मानता है, लेकिन दिल नहीं (Mind agrees but not my heart.)”

Father replies firmly, “मेरा दिमाग और दिल एक ही है (My mind and heart is the same.). Please don’t stop me”

When you have to make the choice between heart and mind, what will you choose? The difficult dilemma always. Our dominant part takes over and we make decisions accordingly. It is highly impossible to have the mind and heart the same, but balancing is a must. Emotional intelligence helps us to make better choices in life.

As per the Zen philosophy, we have 3 states of mind, Reasonable mind, Emotional mind and Wise mind. This philosophy is also used to treat borderline personality disorder. Therapy is known as Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). DBT looks at the mind in two-part, Reasonable mind and Emotional mind. You can relate this to the left brain and the right brain. We need balancing. That balancing mind is ‘Wise Mind.’

Common people do all things with either Reasonable or Emotional mind, however people who practice mindfulness like Yogi, use ‘Wise mind’. In simple language, your Emotional mind is your feelings, Reasonable mind is your thought based on facts and Wise mind balances both, knows which part of the mind is acting and responses wisely.

Wise mind is the state of mind in the middle of both logical and emotional mind. In a Wise mind, we are aware of our feelings, and we decide how to act in a way to honour our feelings and goals. In a Wise mind, if we were angered, we would acknowledge our feelings and act in a way that would not create negative consequences for ourselves.

You don’t need to be Yogi or Buddha to be in the state of Wise mind. It needs practice. Whenever you are in any situation or you have to make choices, decisions, if you are struggling with dilemmas use following tactics.

Just observe the situation, behaviour of another person and its impact and also your behaviour, feelings and thoughts.

Take a pause instead of responding and acknowledge those feelings.

Be in the present situation, experience what you are feeling, without thinking much of the past and future.

Don’t be judgemental by tagging good or bad. Just check observable facts.

And be effective without allowing your emotions to control your behaviour.

The Wise mind will create some sort of stress, to know what it means and why they are feeling it. But this frame of mind also allows you to see a way through. It accepts reality and works to change what it believes is changeable.

“Our life is shaped by our mind; we become what we think. Joy follows a pure thought like a shadow that never leaves”: Buddha
