About
Sixteen years ago I was struggling to build my career. After the college hours, I was working as an consulting
editor for the local newspaper to earn some money. I used to work till midnight and then get the
bus to go home. One day before going to the newspaper office, I went to the
next restaurant to have a tea. The restaurant was small and crowded. I saw an
elderly couple come in with a little girl in a wheelchair. As I looked closer
at this girl, I saw that she was kind of perched on her chair. I then realized
she had no arms or legs, just a head, neck and torso. She was wearing a little
white dress with red polka dots. They took the girl outside the wheel chair and
came inside. Couple was looking for the place to seat and they found one near
to me. I turned my head toward the girl while having the sip of tea and gave
her a wink. I looked back at the girl, who was giving me the cutest, largest
smile I have ever seen. All of a sudden her handicap was gone and all I saw was
this beautiful girl, whose smile just melted me and almost instantly gave me a
completely new sense of what life is all about. She took me from a poor,
unhappy college student and brought me into her world; a world of smiles, love
and warmth. That was Sixteen years ago. I'm a successful professional now and
whenever I get down and think about the troubles of the world, I think about
that little girl and the remarkable lesson about life that she taught me.

The last ride
I arrived at the address and honked the horn. After waiting a few minutes, I
honked again. Since this was going to be my last ride of my shift, I thought
about just driving away, but instead I put the car in park and walked up to the
door and knocked.
'Just a minute', answered a frail, elderly voice. I could hear something
being dragged across the floor. After a long pause, the door opened. A small
woman in her 90s stood before me. She was wearing a print dress and a pillbox
hat with a veil pinned on it, like somebody out of a 1940s movie. By her side
was a small nylon suitcase. The apartment looked as if no one had lived in it
for years. All the furniture was covered with sheets. There were no clocks on
the walls, no knickknacks or utensils on the counters. In the corner was a
cardboard box filled with photos and glassware.

If your boss thinks that your growth has limitations, what will you do?
Your Exit Strategy..
Vikas
was the Line Manager of Prabhanjan, one of the senior technical sales manager
in one of the well-known MNC. Prabhanjan
was around 52 years old, working almost for 10 years in the company. He was not
doing well for last few years. He was qualified engineer, expert in his
segment, but was not doing well for last few years. Vikas has concluded that
Prabhanjan was reached at the level of complacency. In spite of giving several feedback,
Prabhanjan was not trying to fulfil the expectations of his line manager. Vikas
communicated to the management that he
didn’t want the person in his team. Of course he had taken all actions, to
bring the Prabhanjan at expected level. The issue was the attitude of employee.

Ability & inability…consciously & unconsciously…
When I was in school, I never thought
that I would be public speaker & trainer. But when I started my professional life, I
thought I can do the same; even better than others who claim they are good. Do we
aware of our full ability? There are lot many things in life we do first time
and before doing that we never would have thought about those. When there
is any change in technology, people fear that it would be difficult to manage
that technology. There are lot of tasks which change over a period of time, you
struggle to adapt and then you do it professionally. You do it consciously.
