Do you know the name of the person who keeps your workstation and dustbin clean?

It was last day of the year, 31st Dec. All employees were wishing each other before calling off the day. There were lot of plans for the evening. Most of them were planning to go in pubs and have a party, however few of them were planning to spend time with families at home. Everybody was exited and were ready to welcome the new year.

I also decided to call off the day after busy day. Employees and I exchanged greetings and new year wishes. I noticed that all employees were exchanging the wishes among themselves where the supporting staff working in housekeeping, office boys and security were ignored by everybody. Normally this staff is on contract and perhaps nobody knows even their names. In fact they also wanted to wish people, but showing themselves busy in their work.

When I stepped out and moving in the office to wish other employees, I saw one housekeeping guy looking toward me. I ensured that I greet him and give wishes for new year. He seems to be excited. All other staff came forward and we shook hands and exchanged wishes. I could see the happiness on their faces.

There are so many people around us to whom we just ignore. Housekeeping staff keep our environment clean, office boys ensures that you get your morning tea on time, security wishes you when you enter in the office and secure our workplace. We can perform better because somebody is working for us.  Still we don’t respect what they perform. They get money for what they do, but they also have the impact on our job.

There are people around us whose contribution can’t be ignored. You throw your papers in dustbin, you make your washroom messy, and expect somebody else cleans it for you. No problem, you hire them for you and pay them. However, you expect that you should be recognized for your performance, people should respect you, people should not ignore you. Others are also expecting the same. It makes their day and perhaps will do their job better next time.

I recollect the story which emphasize the importance of being humble, love & respect to others.

John worked at a meat distribution factory. One day, when he finished with his work schedule, he went into the meat cold room (Freezer) to inspect something but in a moment of bad luck, the door closed and he was locked inside with no help in sight. Although he screamed and knocked with all his might, his cries went unheard as no one could hear him. Most of the workers had already gone and outside the cold room (freezer), it's impossible to hear what was going on inside. Five hours later, whilst John was on the verge of death, the security guard of the factory eventually opened the door and saved him. John then asked the security guard what he came to do there as it wasn't part of his work routine.

His replies: "I've been working in this factory for 35 years. Hundreds of workers come in and out every day but you're one of the few who greets me in the morning and says goodbye to me every night when leaving after working hours. Many treat me as if I am invisible. So today like every other day, you greeted me in your simple manner "Hello" at the entrance when resuming for work, But curiously after working hours today, I observed I've not heard your "Good bye see you tomorrow". Hence I decided to check around the factory.

I look forward to your greetings every day because to you, I am someone. By not hearing your farewell, I knew something had happened. Then I Sought and found you!

Moral Lesson:

Be humble, love and respect those around you because life is too short. Try to have an impact on people in ways we can't even imagine especially the people that cross our path daily. Stay blessed!

The Complete Man

Raymond had rolled out the “Complete Man ad” in 1992 and over a period of time it received lot of attention. Complete man is also a successful man. 'The Complete Man' for Raymond, a metrosexual, caring, family man who was very different from the way men were portrayed in the 70s and 80s. "That was the angry young man era.

Complete man is successful man but also a caring father, doting husband, or good friend.  He is always looking elegant in a crisply ironed Raymond suit.

But does well dressed man made a good and really complete man with complete life?

To get the fulfilled life is a struggle. You get money & career and loose family and fun. However our focus should be to get the completeness of life. Then only we can call ourselves a Complete Man.

According to me following area are important. When we have something in all areas, we can say we have a fulfilled and complete life and we are then complete man.

  1. Family/Friends
  2. Spouse/Partner/Significant Other/Romance
  3. Career
  4. Finances
  5. Health (emotional/physical/fitness/nutrition/wellbeing)
  6. Physical Environment/Home
  7. Fun/Recreation/Leisure
  8. Personal Growth/Learning/Self-development
  9. Spiritual wellbeing (not necessarily religion – can be sense of self)
  10. Community and Social Life like

This also include in Wheel of Life.

> Please change, split or rename any category so that it’s meaningful and represents a balanced life for you.
> Next, taking the center of the wheel as 0 and the outer edge as 10, rank your level of satisfaction with each area out of 10 by drawing a straight or curved line to create a new outer edge.
> The new perimeter of the circle represents your ‘Wheel of Life’. Is it a bumpy ride?

Let’s ask ourselves & think about what success feels like for each area. If you rate all areas on the scale of 1-10, how would you rate?

Happy New Year 2015

Resolution of following the resolution

Do you make the list of resolutions to be followed in New Year? The question is how to follow the same. I remember, when I was in college, I use to make the big list of resolutions.

From 1st Jan,
I will wake up early in the morning
I will start daily exercise
I will study at least one subject after the exercise
I will enroll for additional diploma
I will spend at least one Sunday with underprivileged children and so on….

When I look back and review why resolutions are not followed, I get simple answer and it is we do not commit to ourselves. We recognize the importance of resolutions. That’s why we make it. But it does not come from our heart as they are not priorities for us. You just check the list of resolutions people do. If you do not follow these resolutions, you do not suffer so much immediately. Unless we do not make them the priority we would not be able to follow them.

Second reason is we do not convert them into objectives and goals. And when you convert them into the goals, you are forced to put the timeline. Most of the times, it is wish list we make and label them resolutions.

We have lot of excuses to break these resolutions. We do not plan them properly. Sometimes we do it for 15 days and then we forget…

So on the eve of last day of this year, at least make one resolution...

“Whatsoever, I make any resolution; I make it to happen.”

Happy New Year

With the first rays of the Sun on the Earth and with the first day of the week, 2015 will be started. New beginning is ahead. There are lot many things to do in New Year; Lot of plans and resolutions. (http://vinodtbidwaik.blogspot.com/2010/12/resolution-of-following-resolution.html) 1st Jan is the same as yesterday, but with new hopes.

Yesterday on one TV show, one actor asked another one, “What does New Year mean for you?” Actor replied, “When my wife asks me to bring new calendar, I assume that the New Year is ahead.”

Earth rotates around the Sun as usual, birds go out from their nest as usual, but for human being, it is the new day for new thinking. Human being thinks what he has achieved, gain in a last year and what he would achieve in New Year. However we should not forget the spirit of enjoying the New Year. We keep back the baggage and hope for the best in New Year. Somebody may say that 2014 was more challenging and volatile, but that is the life. It gave you total new experience. There is one English movie, “Clean Slate”. In this movie one character suffers one type of amnesia, when he goes to sleep each night he forgets everything that happened to him before that time. A woman who had cheated him asked him to forgive. The character even is not aware what she did with him and he is totally clueless.

As you welcome the New Year, your past has nothing to influence your future. The great year is ahead with hopes and lot of positive energy. If you believe on the “Law of Attraction”, then this year will bring more joy and positive energy in your life. No matter what has happened in last year, you have the power to create your next year as you choose. For this you have to choose the freedom of choosing. (http://vinodtbidwaik.blogspot.com/2011/02/do-you-have-choice.html) You are now deeper, wiser, and stronger by one more year.

Wish you all Happy New year! May this New Year 2015 bring for you happiness, success, health, prosperity and wonderful surprises in your life!”

Cheers!

Christian - The Lion, The Story of Love

Somebody sent me this clip on WhatsApp few days back. This clip is mind-blowing. This is a true story. The cub who was put for the sell was taken by two friends, John and Ace.

Cub and friends developed great relationship. Due to the space, the lion is sent at South Africa. The lion become wild and the leader of the group, pride. When John and Ace decided to visit South Africa to meet the big cat, they were told that the animal is wild and leader of his own pride and would not remember his old friends…

It was big surprise for all when Lion responded in a unique way… see what’s happened next…

Kaash… Human would learn something from such animals…
